REXIUS DOUGLAS FIR ORCHID BARK – Small 7 qts

Rexius Orchid Bark is a cleaner heat-treated Douglas Fir specialty bark that has been processed by high grading and sizing to the highest standards of orchid growers. Rexius Orchid Bark is machine dried at specified temperatures for heat treatment to reduce the chance of pathogen or infestation problems. Made in-house in Eugene, Oregon, Rexius Orchid Bark comes in 2 cubic foot bags, or 2 cubic yard totes for commercial growers.

Fir bark for orchids is an exceptionally suitable potting medium for many species, specifically epiphytic varieties. Fir bark will not compact, which ensures adequate drainage and airflow to the roots. It also has a very rough surface which helps orchid roots to anchor themselves, providing structure and support.

Our fir orchid bark mix is made from heat-treated and sterilized Douglas Fir bark and is available in medium and small chip sizes, in large quantities suitable for growers with a large number of plants. Our fir bark allows for exceptional drainage and airflow to the roots growing orchids and is also ideal for use as a drainage material at the bottom of all pots and planters – not just those for orchids!

Size

UHS offers a medium and small grade size of bark. The small size is around the size of a dime and smaller. Medium is dime to quarter size bark. We have found no difference in performance in the different sizes.
